For a long time executives have been playing "me too" and opted for "best practice" delivered through complex and rigid ERP-systems. As a result the world of enterprise systems have gone from uncoordinated to straitjacket. That is a business process reality where companies are forced to:
- Work in a cumbersome and inefficient way
- Hire expensive consultants to simply manage the system
- Big bang upgrades providing little business value but lots of disruption and cost.
Vendors of traditional ERP-systems are aware of the growing dissatisfaction among its users. But it is hard to renew old software. Often the only repair offered is a more colorful user interface with MS Office support. Putting a new user interface on top of the old screen arrangement does however not eliminate any fundamental shortcomings. Workflow, usability and flexibility are still missing. The big bang approach is also unchanged. So in order to benefit from a more colorful user interface you are forced to go through a risky and costly system upgrade.
ComActivity offers a better way forward. Ever more companies are experiencing that we are not too good to be true. At midsummer ComActivity passed the 75 customer mark - meaning that we added 20 new companies to our customer base during the first half of 2008. BlueScope Steel, Olympus, Weyerhaeuser, Kanthal, Jeldwen, Manitou, Freixenet, Fulton Paper, Recip Pharma, KWH Pipes, ME Group, Ekmans, Trioplanex, Tikkurila and IMO Pump are some of our new customers.
Why mid-size to large manufacturing, distribution and maintenance intensive companies choose ComActivity is because its respective business requires the functionality we deliver but typically not existing in their current ERP-system. Customers use ComActivity's solutions to save money and effort by working smarter. Here follow a popular example:
ComActivity's solution for establishing and maintaining products via automated workflows and optimized user interfaces reduces the lead time and increases the data quality. It is implemented step-by-step without business disruption but with rigorous cost control.
Workflow, usability and flexibility makes up an attractive track to follow. The future is looking good for ComActivity as it is very likely that more and more companies follow in the footsteps of today's pathfinders. The economic low pressure building up will often speed up the movement as it will release necessary resources and highlight the need for greater efficiency.
The future is looking good because more and more IT-based business process improvement firms are realizing that to create competitive differentiation and improved revenue performance for its customers; they need software such as ComActivity is offering. We therefore foresee that our partner network continues to grow of both vertical specialists and the giants of our industry. Yes, we are happy to announce that IBM has sold its first solution based on ComActivity software.
SOA, Web 2.0 Java, BPM, metadata and models instead of programs and a 100% open standard commitment is our foundation. A key reason why the future is looking good is that we would have chosen exactly the same technology today as we did seven years ago. If it was not for our great technology ComActivity would not be the business solution company it is. When it is impossible to separate a flexible and efficient business process from its enabling technology; ComActivity is the best answer.
